Description
Help toddlers learn self-regulation skills with this board book using positive language and real pictures.
Young children are notorious for pushing limits and testing boundaries, and you may find the words “NO! DON’T…! STOP!” rolling off your tongue more often than you would like. Did you know 83% of what young children hear between 0-4 years old is some form of “no”?
UH OH: A Day In the Life Of a Toddler uses positive language to help young children practice self-regulation skills, with suggestions on more appropriate behaviors to every day scenarios…..like what to do instead of grabbing toys, throwing food, etc., that will get them cooperating with less fuss. It is also the 1st children’s book of its kind designed to give parents the exaaact words to say to encourage tots to behave appropriately without all the power struggles.
Real pictures young children can really relate to, positive language, and a guide for parents makes this a great book for littles to enjoy on their own to practice self-regulation skills, or as a parenting book to get scripts with exactly what to say when kiddos need that extra support from you.

I love this book! My dad found my copy and picked it up to read it. Later that night I noticed him reframing his statements to my son in order to use positive language (his default is negative, critical language). To hear him using positive, affirming language after just one read made me a believer that anyone can change with the right guidance, and that all parents/grandparents/caregivers can benefit from this book. Real life images engage my son, and the simple, straightforward statements to use when dealing with common toddler behaviors, like throwing food or hitting, etc, really help me know what to say when we encounter these challenges in our everyday lives. Unlike the typical toddler boardbook that just entertains my son, this book keeps my son interested and engaged while also being an invaluable learning tool for myself (and others in his life!). I highly recommend it.

I love that this book includes daily activities that actually happen in my own home! Too many books focus on things when out and about, my toddler loves to be out and about and is too distracted to throw a temper tantrum. It’s the daily mundane stuff that drives me crazy when kiddo is testing my patience and his limits.

Every parent needs to purchase this book. I learned how to effectively communicate with my 7 month old son while empowering him at the same time. He’s young and he is going to create a belief system about himself. Anything I can do to help elevate that, I’m all game.

Really helped me be more aware of the times I say “No”. I could see an instant change in my girl’s receptiveness when I didn’t use that negative language.

This book has real photos from everyday life experieneces which my son can relate too. It helps both parent and child learn. I find myself saying no less often and being more descriptive when talking to my son.

Can’t say enough good things about this book. Kiddo loves it (especially the real pictures), and the text gives the other adults/caregivers in her life a way to get the highlights of Cherrie’s approach to parenting. It’s especially helpful that sample language is in there. The back pages were also a helpful reminder to me of how to communicate in a way that reinforces positive behaviour. Highly recommended.

Amazing book, especially for anyone struggling with how to reframe a stressful situation with more thoughtful and patient EQ related answers.
I started out reading this to my little guy and soon my wife noticed the change in how he was reacting and started reading it to him as part of his bedtime story rotation.
It’s a great simple reminder that our little ones need more time to process, explore and decipher their needs but all with guidance from us.
Thanks Cherrie for the content

The best toddler book anyone could get for their toddler! My toddler has loved reading this book the moment I introduced it to him! He totally gets the concepts and it has helped us communicate so well with him!
